After
spending 28 years in the mortgage banking industry I was given an opportunity
to become a travel agent/owner. Since I
had always said the only reason I go to work is to earn money to travel it
seemed like the right step to make.
Travel has opened my eyes and heart to the world. I grew up in Traverse City, Michigan.
I was one of 11 children and certainly had dreams of seeing the world
but never the means to realize those dreams.
I married
young and raised eight children over the years. I am now a proud grand-mother of six and great-grandmother
of three. Once the children were grown I was able to
work on a career and followed the suggestion of one of my brothers to get
involved in the mortgage industry.
In 2007
when that business started to deteriorate I spent a lot of time crying on my
friends shoulders. One of them came up
with the idea of becoming a travel agent and owning my own business. I immediately signed up.
Wow,
dreams do come true. I’ve spent the last
three years educating myself on the business side of travel and enjoying the
perks. There are amazing perks for
travel agents. I have attained some
wonderful designations such as CLIA ACC and Princess Commodore and Alaska
Specialist. I am currently working on my
CLIA MCC and will soon have my Cunard Commodore Status.
By
helping my clients realize their travel dreams I am constantly expanding my
own. I have all the business tools I
need to operate my own web based business and felt that having a storefront was
the next logical step. We have now been
operating in Lake
Placid
for 2 years and feel that we have landed in the best place at the best time.
The
opportunities in travel are there for any women wishing to own their own
business. From a stay at home mom to a
retiree looking for something to do to the inspired entrepreneur travel is
where it’s at. It took me 60 years to
find my dream job but I now can say this is where I belong.
My future
goals involve helping other women attain their goals. I hope to help inspire and motivate those
looking to attain their dreams.
